Terms of Service

Effective date: July 20, 2026

These terms cover your use of freealternatives.to. They are short on purpose. By using the site, you agree to them.

What this service is

Free Alternatives To is a library of software tools, organized as alternative lists, reviews, and categories. We research third-party tools and write about them so you can find free options faster. We are not affiliated with the tools we list unless a page says otherwise.

Accuracy of information

In plain terms: we do our homework, but software pricing changes without warning.

We verify pricing facts and free-plan limits on each vendor's own site and date-stamp them on the page. Even so, vendors change prices, limits, and features whenever they like, and a fact that was true when we checked can go stale. Always confirm the current price and limits on the vendor's own site before you buy or commit to anything. We are not responsible for decisions made on outdated information, though we do want to fix it: if you spot something stale, tell us through the contact page.

Intellectual property

The content we write, including our reviews, lists, guides, and site design, belongs to us. You can quote or link to it, and we appreciate credit. You may not scrape or republish it wholesale without our permission.

Tool names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. We show them to identify the tools we write about, not to suggest any endorsement or affiliation.

User accounts and your content

Accounts are not live yet. These rules take effect when they launch, and we are publishing them now so there are no surprises.

  • You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in details to yourself.
  • You own the content you post: reviews, comments, tool submissions, and edit suggestions. By posting, you give us a non-exclusive license to display, store, and format it on the site. You can delete your content, and the license ends with it, except where copies persist in backups for a limited time.
  • No spam, no fake reviews, no harassment, no posting content you do not have the right to share.
  • We can moderate: we may edit for formatting, hide, or remove content that breaks these rules, and suspend accounts that keep breaking them. We aim to be fair and will tell you why when we act.

Tool claims

When accounts launch, a company representative will be able to claim their tool's page. You will need to prove your affiliation, and we review every claim manually. We do this so the verified badge stays meaningful. We can decline a claim, and we can revoke one later if it turns out the claim was false or the affiliation has ended.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • Attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site.
  • Scrape the site at a scale that disrupts it for others.
  • Use the site to distribute malware or run scams.
  • Impersonate us, another person, or a company you do not represent.

No warranty

The site is provided as is. We work to keep it accurate, available, and safe, but we cannot promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted, and we make no warranties of any kind about the site or the third-party tools we describe.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content. Your use of any third-party tool we list is between you and that vendor, under that vendor's own terms.

Termination

You can stop using the site at any time. Once accounts launch, you will be able to delete yours whenever you want. We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these terms, and we will say why when we do.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site grows, for example when accounts go live. When we do, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects your rights, we will make it visible rather than quiet. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you think we got something wrong, reach out through the contact page. A real person reads every message.
