Type a form the way you type a Notion page
Tally is a privacy-friendly, no-code form builder from Belgium that lets you create forms by typing directly on the page, similar to Notion. The free plan includes unlimited forms and submissions (within fair usage guidelines), along with conditional logic, answer piping, calculators, Stripe payments, e-signatures, 45+ languages, and integrations with Notion, Google Sheets, Airtable, Slack, and Zapier. Tally publishes what fair usage means, which is unusually straightforward: roughly 50,000 submissions a month, 50,000 email notifications, and 100 GB of uploads per month.
Who Tally fits, from solo founders to Notion teams
- Solopreneurs and startups who need unlimited forms without per-submission fees
- Creators and marketers building lead gen forms, newsletters, and surveys
- Notion users who want a familiar, document-style editing experience
- Privacy-conscious teams (Tally is GDPR compliant and hosts data in Europe)
Free for volume, priced for people
Tally is free for core use with unlimited forms and submissions under fair usage. Pro ($24/mo billed annually) removes branding and adds custom domains, team workspaces, and analytics. Business ($74/mo billed annually) adds automated data retention and email verification.
Seven limits, starting with the one-seat free plan
- The free plan is single-user. Inviting team members is a Pro feature, so there is no free collaboration at all
- Visit analytics on the free plan cover only the past 7 days. Extended history and drop-off insights are Pro. (Answer insights, the charts of what people actually replied, are free and unlimited)
- There is no background image upload on any plan. Free users can set a background color and a cover image, but a real custom background needs injected CSS, and custom CSS is Pro
- Uploaded files are capped at 10 MB each until you pay
- Fair usage guidelines apply on the free plan for very high volume
- Custom domains and branding removal require a paid plan
- Forms are cloud-hosted only. There is no self-hosted option
We would start here, and switch when you hire
If you are one person collecting a lot of answers, Tally's free plan is the most relaxed one in this category: unlimited forms, unlimited submissions inside a published fair-use ceiling, and no counter ticking down while a campaign runs. The moment a second person needs access the answer changes, because inviting a teammate is a Pro feature at $24 a month. Skip Tally entirely if you need self-hosting or a genuinely custom background, neither of which exists at any price. If the single seat is what stops you, the free Tally alternatives do the same job with teams included.
