Formbricks is an open source survey platform focused on gathering feedback across the user journey: in-app widgets, website popovers, link surveys, and email surveys. The core is licensed AGPL-3.0 and can be self-hosted with Docker at no cost; a hosted cloud runs from Frankfurt, Germany.

Formbricks is freemium plus open source. The free Hobby cloud plan includes 250 responses per month in 1 workspace (as of July 2026). Pro ($74/mo) raises that to 2,000 responses with unlimited seats; Scale ($325/mo) adds roles and quotas. Self-hosting the Community Edition is free with no response caps.

The 250-response limit, and what Docker costs you

• Self-hosting is free only if you can run and maintain Docker yourself
• It is survey-first: no payments, e-signatures, or order-form features
• Some enterprise modules in the repo sit under a separate commercial license

Self-host it, or budget $74 before you launch

Formbricks is the strongest open source answer for in-product feedback: NPS prompts, churn surveys and website popovers that fire at the right moment, all AGPL-3.0 and free to run on your own server with no response ceiling. That version is the recommendation. The hosted Hobby plan is a different proposition, because 250 responses a month runs out fast on a public survey and the next rung is $74/mo. Do not come here for payments, e-signatures or order forms, none of which Formbricks does. If you cannot run Docker and cannot spend $74, the free Formbricks alternatives will serve you better.
