The most modules of any free CRM here
SuiteCRM is what happened when SugarCRM stopped offering a free community edition and the open source community forked the last free version and kept building. Years later it is the most feature-complete free CRM you can install: sales, marketing campaigns, cases, quotes, invoices, contracts, and a workflow engine, all in one AGPL-3.0 package with no per-user fee.
That makes it the natural landing spot for businesses that need enterprise CRM features but refuse to pay enterprise CRM prices. You trade money for effort: the software is free, but running it well is a real job.
Built for teams that need quotes and contracts
- Businesses that need quotes, contracts, and case management on their own infrastructure
- Teams migrating off a legacy SugarCRM or an over-priced Salesforce setup
- Organisations that want full data ownership with no per-seat licensing
No licence fee, because SalesAgility prices services
As of July 2026, self-hosting SuiteCRM is free under AGPL-3.0 with no per-user licence fees and unlimited users. You get the entire feature set, including the modules that cost extra almost everywhere else, such as quotes, invoicing, and case management.
The cost is hosting and upkeep. SuiteCRM needs a web server, PHP, and a MySQL or MariaDB database, and it is heavier than the lighter CRMs here, so it wants real resources. If you would rather not run it, SalesAgility's managed hosting starts from £50 a month, and its SuiteASSURED support and warranty package starts from £3,350 a year.
SuiteCRM's real limit is your team's time
It looks its age. The interface carries a lot of SugarCRM heritage, and next to Twenty or even EspoCRM it feels dated and dense. New users need time to find their way around.
It is heavier to run than the other open source options. More modules mean more to configure, more to update, and more that can break, so it rewards a team with genuine technical capacity and punishes one without.
And "free" here really means "free software, paid effort". If you cost your own time honestly, a small team with no server skills may find a hosted free plan cheaper in practice, even though SuiteCRM asks for no licence fee.
Would we run SuiteCRM? Only with a sysadmin
SuiteCRM is the pick when you need enterprise CRM breadth for zero licence cost and you have the technical capacity to run it. Nothing else free here matches its feature list. Just go in knowing it is the heaviest tool in this category to run and the least modern to use, so if you want something lighter to own, EspoCRM or Twenty will be a happier daily experience.
