Zcal's free plan charges nothing up front and 3% of every paid booking
Nothing on Zcal's free plan counts down. Scheduling links, connected calendars, meeting polls, embeds and video call integrations are all unlimited and free forever, with no card at signup (as of July 2026). In a category where the incumbent gives you one event type, that is a real difference.
The cost is charged two ways instead. Zcal branding stays on your booking page, and if you take payment for bookings, Zcal takes 3% on top of what Stripe already charges. That second one is the number that grows, and it is the reason the free plan gets more expensive the better you do.

- Is it really free?
- Yes, within limits
70 out of 100, with generosity and honesty pulling opposite ways
Zcal scores 70, the bottom edge of our Strong band, and the two halves of that number point in different directions. On what you get for nothing it is near the top of this category, because our data records no cap on links, calendars or bookings, which is unusual enough to be worth checking twice.
On what is attached to the word free, it sits mid-table, and for a reason that is not really about the product. Zcal publishes its plan prices only on a page that renders in the browser, and three separate attempts to read it failed, so we hold no verified figure for Pro or Business. A free plan you cannot price your way off is harder to plan around than a free plan with a visible ceiling.
For comparison, Cal.com's free plan scores 78 with published prices and no platform fee. Zcal wins on meeting polls, which nothing else free here includes alongside 1:1 booking.

Strong
Unlimited free booking links and group polls, paid for with branding and 3% of every booking.
- Free plan generosity35% of the score
84/100
Unlimited scheduling links, unlimited connected calendars, meeting polls, embeds and video call integrations, free forever with no card (as of July 2026). Nothing in our data caps bookings, event types or calendars, which is unusual in this category. The number that actually binds is the 3% Zcal takes from every paid booking, so the free plan costs you more the better you do.
- Feature depth for the category25% of the score
76/100
Meeting polls are the differentiator: Zcal is the only hosted tool here that gives you group availability and one-to-one booking on the same free account, and paid bookings work on free too. What is held back is teams. Round-robin, collective scheduling, team pages and custom domains sit on Business, and webhooks and coupon codes on Pro.
- Freedom and honesty20% of the score
55/100
Free forever with no card, but three strings. Zcal branding stays on your booking page, the 3% platform fee on paid bookings is a cut on top of what Stripe already charges, and it is cloud-only with no self-hosting. We also could not verify what Pro or Business cost, because zcal.co/pricing renders in the browser and help.zcal.co describes the tiers without stating a figure, so you cannot price your way off the free plan before signing up.
- What free users report20% of the score
55/100
One score only, Capterra 4.9 (checked 24 July 2026), with no G2 or Trustpilot profile on file. One provider is not a pattern, and it rates the product overall rather than the free tier, so we score at the middle rather than reading 4.9 as free-user approval.
Scored July 2026. How we calculate the free plan score.
Two limits with no numbers on them: the branding, and 3% of what you earn
The free plan does not restrict usage. What it does is attach two conditions, and one of them scales with your success (as of July 2026).
- A 3% platform fee on every paid booking, charged on top of Stripe's own fees. At $500 a month in bookings that is $15. At $2,000 it is $60, every month, forever, and it keeps climbing while a flat paid seat would not. If you sell sessions, this is the real price of the free plan.
- Zcal branding stays on your booking page. Removing it means Pro, and we cannot tell you what Pro costs.
- Teams are entirely absent from free. Round-robin, collective scheduling, team pages and custom domains sit on Business.
- Webhooks, coupon codes and analytics tracking (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) are Pro features, so free is not the tier for anyone automating around the booking flow.
- Cloud only. No self-hosting and no open source core, so your booking data and your future pricing exposure both sit with the vendor.
- A smaller integration catalogue than Cal.com's 100+, which shows up if you need CRM sync rather than a calendar and a video link.
The honest summary: nothing here stops you working, and one thing here takes a slice of your revenue.
The ladder exists, and we could not read the prices on it
We hold no verified figure for Zcal Pro or Zcal Business, and we are stating that rather than filling the gap. zcal.co/pricing renders its plan prices in the browser, help.zcal.co describes the tiers without naming a dollar amount, and three separate fetch attempts failed (checked July 2026). Our rule is that the vendor's own site wins for pricing and that we leave a number out rather than copy one from a roundup, so the numbers stay out. Open zcal.co/pricing yourself before you commit to a tier.
What we can tell you is the shape and the trigger. Pro removes the branding and the 3% fee and adds webhooks, coupon codes, and Google Analytics and Meta Pixel tracking. Business adds team pages, round-robin and collective scheduling, and custom domain support.
The upgrade maths is unusually clear even without the price, because the 3% fee gives you the arithmetic. Once your monthly paid bookings times 3% exceeds a Pro seat, the free plan is the more expensive option and staying on it is a mistake. For anyone whose calls are free, that trigger never arrives and the only reason to pay is the logo.

Is Zcal really free? Yes until you charge for a booking
A real free plan with a ceiling you will meet. Fine until you grow into it.
Free with limits, and which limit you meet depends entirely on whether money changes hands. If your meetings are free, Zcal's free plan has no ceiling worth planning around: unlimited links, unlimited calendars, meeting polls and embeds, indefinitely.
Who lives here comfortably: a consultant taking discovery calls, a recruiter running interviews, anyone who currently juggles a scheduler plus a separate group-poll tool, because meeting polls and 1:1 booking sit on the same free account here and nowhere else in this category. The booking page is also the best-looking one on this list, which is not nothing when the link is a client's first impression.
Who should not stay on free: anyone selling sessions. The 3% fee is charged on every paid booking on top of Stripe's cut, so the free plan quietly becomes a revenue share. And anyone who needs a team page or round-robin, because those are Business features.
If the fee is the problem, Cal.com's free plan includes Stripe and PayPal payments at no cost and takes no cut. Free Zcal alternatives ranks the rest, and the whole category is at best free scheduling tools.
Frequently asked questions about Zcal
What does Zcal's free plan include?
Unlimited scheduling links, unlimited connected calendars, meeting polls, website embeds and video conferencing integrations, free forever with no card (as of July 2026). Zcal branding stays on your booking page, and paid bookings carry a 3% platform fee on top of Stripe's fees.
How much does Zcal Pro cost?
We could not verify it. zcal.co/pricing renders its prices in the browser and help.zcal.co describes the tiers without naming a figure, and three fetch attempts failed (checked July 2026). We do not publish prices we cannot source from the vendor, so check zcal.co/pricing yourself.
Does Zcal do group polls like Doodle?
Yes, and they are on the free plan. You send a set of candidate times, people vote, and the winner becomes a real calendar event without a second tool. Zcal is the only hosted tool in this category that gives you group availability and 1:1 booking on the same free account.
