forms.app's free plan runs out in forms, not responses

You will not run out of responses on forms.app. You will run out of forms, and there are five of them.

That inversion is the whole point of this free plan. As of July 2026 it gives you 5 forms and, inside them, unlimited responses, unlimited views, unlimited questions and unlimited team members, plus every one of its 30+ field types including payments, e-signatures and the product basket field. The limits are the form count, 10 MB of file storage in total, and four features that a lot of people assume come free and do not.

What our score rewards forms.app for, and what it takes back

forms.app lands in our Strong band, close enough to Tally that the gap between the two is not worth arguing over, and we have left it where it fell rather than tidying it, because the two tools win on different things. Tally is the more generous with volume. forms.app is the deeper product on free, taking our feature depth pillar comfortably above Tally's, because it hands over the whole field type catalogue at zero.

forms.app still holds rank 1 on our form builder category page, and that is not a contradiction to explain away. Rank weighs the entire product; this score asks the narrower question of how far zero dollars gets you, and on that question a 5-form cap costs you points that a well-built editor cannot win back. The pillar that pulls hardest downward is freedom, at 66, where the branding requirement and the storage figure both count against an otherwise unmetered plan.

77/100

Strong

The widest free feature set in the category, if you can live inside 5 forms and 10 MB.

Free plan generosity35% of the score

86/100

The free plan does not meter the things every rival meters: responses, views and questions are all unlimited, and so are team members, which no other free plan here allows. You pay for that with a hard 5-form ceiling and 10 MB of total file storage, so client work or any form that takes uploads runs out quickly (as of July 2026).

Feature depth for the category25% of the score

88/100

All 30+ field types are on the free plan, including payments, e-signatures, the product basket field, auto-scoring and the AI form creator. That is the deepest free feature set in this category. The gaps are specific: drop-off analysis, multilingual forms and save as draft need Pro at $29 a month, and partial responses need Premium at $59.

Freedom and honesty20% of the score

66/100

Nothing gets switched off on you: no response quota, no view meter, no lockout. Against that, forms.app branding stays until you pay $19 a month, 10 MB is your entire file allowance, and three features people reasonably assume are free (drop-off analysis, multilingual forms, save as draft) sit behind Pro. Its own llms.txt still advertises a stale 100-responses-a-month free limit, so trust the live pricing page over any secondary source.

What free users report20% of the score

60/100

We hold G2 4.5 and Capterra 4.7 for the product overall (checked 24 July 2026), and no Trustpilot profile. Neither number tells us anything about the free tier specifically, and we have no free-user reports on file, so this sits near the middle rather than borrowing the product's general rating.

Scored July 2026. How we calculate the free plan score.

Not responses: the limits are 5 forms, 10 MB, and four paywalled features

Two numbers do all the limiting here, and neither of them is a response count.

  • 5 forms. Enough for a business running a contact form, a signup and a survey. Not enough if you build per client or launch a form per campaign, because you will be deleting old work to make room for new work.
  • 10 MB of file storage in total (as of July 2026), not per form and not per month. One form collecting CVs or photos fills it in an afternoon. Basic at $19 a month is the first plan that moves it, to 10 GB.
  • Drop-off analysis, multilingual forms and save as draft are Pro, at $29 a month. All three read like standard equipment and none of them are included free.
  • Partial responses are Premium, at $59 a month, the most expensive self-serve tier. If seeing what someone typed before abandoning a form is why you are here, that is the price.
  • forms.app branding stays on every form until you reach Basic.

One thing to check before you compare our numbers against anyone else's. forms.app's own llms.txt file, and a large number of third-party roundups that appear to have read it, still describe the free plan as 100 responses a month. That figure is stale, and the cap it describes is no cap at all. Prices are the other thing worth checking twice, because forms.app bills in your local currency: the dollar figures on this page match its own dollar price list, and an EU reader will see 16, 24 and 49 EUR for the same three plans.

What $19 buys, and why the useful step is $29

The ladder is billed annually and each rung mostly buys forms and storage. Basic is the branding rung: it takes the forms.app name off your forms and lifts you to 25 forms and 10 GB. Pro is the analytics rung, and for most people it is the one they were actually reaching for, because drop-off analysis lives there alongside multilingual forms and save as draft.

So the honest upgrade path is $29 a month rather than $19, unless branding removal on its own is the reason you are paying. Premium at $59 is a narrower proposition: custom domains, partial responses and 1 TB of storage. Worth it if your forms are long and your abandonment rate is expensive, hard to justify otherwise.

Two things this pricing page does better than most in the category. It shows the monthly rate beside the annual one instead of hiding the difference ($29 against $19, $39 against $29, $79 against $59), and it publishes a 50% discount for nonprofits and educational organizations on yearly plans plus a 90-day refund guarantee. One thing to watch: forms.app quotes in your billing currency, so the euro list runs 16, 24 and 49 for the same three plans and is not a straight conversion of the dollar one.

Is forms.app really free? Yes for five forms, no for five clients

Yes, within limits

A real free plan with a ceiling you will meet. Fine until you grow into it.

You can run forms.app for years without paying, provided you never need a sixth form and nothing you collect is a file. That sounds like a heavy caveat, and it is a real one, but it is narrower than what most of this category asks of you, because the thing that normally runs out (responses) never does here.

Who lives on it comfortably: a small business with a contact form, an order form and a feedback survey; a team of any size, since unlimited free team members is the rarest thing forms.app does and almost nobody else in this category offers it; anyone selling through a form, because payments and the product basket field cost nothing.

Who ends up paying: agencies and freelancers building per client, anyone whose forms take uploads, and anyone who needs to see where people drop out, since that is a Pro feature. If the form cap is your problem rather than the price, Tally's free plan has no form limit at all and includes payments too. If it is the storage, compare the field in our best free form builders or look at the near matches on free forms.app alternatives.

Frequently asked questions about forms.app

How many responses does the forms.app free plan include?

Unlimited, as of July 2026. Responses, views and questions are all uncapped on the free plan, and so are team members. You may still see 100 responses a month quoted elsewhere, including in forms.app's own llms.txt file, but that figure is stale and the live pricing page does not carry it.

Can I remove forms.app branding without paying?

No. Branding removal starts on Basic at $19 a month billed annually, or $29 billed monthly (as of July 2026). Everything else on the free plan is unbranded in the sense that nothing else is withheld, but the forms.app mark stays on your forms until you upgrade.

Does the forms.app free plan include payments and e-signatures?

Yes, both. All 30+ field types are on the free plan, including payments, e-signatures, the product basket field, answer recall, auto-scoring and the AI form creator (as of July 2026). This is the widest free feature set we have recorded in this category.

Is drop-off analysis free on forms.app?

No. Drop-off analysis, multilingual forms and save as draft all require Pro at $29 a month, and partial responses require Premium at $59 (as of July 2026). These four are the features most likely to catch out someone who read that the free plan includes everything.
