On Jotform's free plan, the views run out before the submissions do

The score and our category rank disagree here, and we are leaving that alone rather than tuning either. Jotform ranks 6th of 17 form builders on this site, because the paid product has the deepest feature catalogue in the category. Free means the Starter plan, and Starter is metered in more places than most people check. As of July 2026 it gives you:

• 1 user

The view meter is the one that catches people out. A form linked from a newsletter, a busy landing page or a social post burns views on everyone who opens it, including everyone who never fills it in, so you can exhaust the month while collecting almost nothing.

What happens next is the part worth planning around. Jotform's own documentation is blunt about it: cross any monthly limit and your live forms are disabled behind a "Form over quota" message until the cycle resets. The last limit is people. Team member invitations require Enterprise, so Starter, Bronze, Silver and Gold are all single-user. That is proportionate as an upgrade, but it is $408 a year for a form builder that stays single-user, which is where most people start comparing.

Look one rung further before you buy, because the ladder has an odd step in it. Silver is $39 a month billed annually, five dollars more than Bronze, and it carries 50 forms, 2,500 submissions and a million views. Paying $60 a year more than doubles what you get. Gold at $99 is the top self-serve tier (100 forms, 10,000 submissions, 100 GB) and adds HIPAA compliance, and above that Enterprise is custom-priced and is the only plan that lets you invite anyone.

What people upgrade for is almost always the monthly submission count, with the view meter a close second and usually the reason the upgrade happens sooner than expected. Nobody upgrades for features, because Starter already carries the standard feature set. This is a pricing ladder built entirely around volume, which makes it easy to forecast and expensive to sit on.

Yes, within limits, and that sits one step above where a score of 46 would normally land. Our reason for the departure: the score is dragged down by two counters and a lockout, but underneath them is the full product, and a form that stays below 100 submissions and 10,000 views a month runs on it indefinitely with no card on file.

Concretely, the people who can live here are a club taking event signups, a one-person consultancy with a contact form on a low-traffic site, or a landlord collecting up to 10 signed documents a month (as of July 2026). The people who cannot are anyone promoting a form to a list, because views disappear without submissions arriving, and anyone with a colleague, because a second seat means Enterprise.
