Typeform's free plan is 10 responses, then every form goes private
Ten responses a month is the entire free Typeform allowance, and it is counted across your whole account rather than per form (as of July 2026). The eleventh person who answers does not get through.
Unlimited forms sits next to that number on the pricing page, and it is true, but it does not help much when the shared counter runs out in an afternoon. This page covers which limit closes the door, what the first paid step actually buys, and who should look elsewhere.

Why Typeform scores 25 out of 100
25 is the lowest free plan score of any form builder on this site that has a free plan at all. Only Formstack scores below it, and Formstack has no free tier to score. For contrast, Tally sits at 78 and forms.app at 77, and both of those are free products with a paid tier attached rather than paid products with a free door.
The number is not our opinion of Typeform. Its category rank is 7th of 17, because rank weighs the whole package and the conversational editor is the best-built in this category. Our free plan score asks one narrower question, how far zero dollars gets you, and Typeform answers it with ten responses. The gap between those two positions is the honest summary of this tool, and the four pillars below show where it opens.

8/100
10 responses a month across every form on the account (as of July 2026). That is the tightest free tier in this category by a wide margin, and it is an account-wide total rather than a per-form one. Unlimited forms does not help much when eleven people answering ends your month.
- Feature depth for the category25% of the score
35/100
Logic, hidden fields and Typeform AI are on the free plan, and the conversational format itself is the best-built in the category. What is missing is what the category now gives away: no payments and no file uploads at all on free, and Clarify with AI, the follow-up feature people come for, starts at $119 a month on Talent.

Hit the 10-response cap and every form on your account goes private until the next month or an upgrade. Deleting old responses does not free up room and unused responses do not roll over. The ladder above it runs to nine tiers, and Typeform states it runs pricing experiments, with its own pricing page currently serving two different price sets, so what you are quoted may not match what we recorded.

The scores split hard: G2 4.5 and Capterra 4.7 against Trustpilot 2.4 (checked 24 July 2026). We have no free-tier reports on file and no evidence for what drives the Trustpilot gap, so we score slightly below the middle on the split itself rather than reading a cause into it.

Where the limit bites: 10 responses a month, then every form goes private
The cap that binds is the response counter, and it binds within days for anything public. Every form on the account draws from the same 10 a month (as of July 2026). Hit it and Typeform puts every form you own into private mode until the next month or an upgrade.
Two details make the counter stricter than it reads:
- Deleting old responses does not free up room. It measures what arrived this month, not what you kept.
- Unused responses do not roll over, so a quiet March buys you nothing in a busy April.
The feature gaps matter as much as the number. There are no payments and no file uploads at all on the free plan, both of which forms.app and Tally include at no cost. Typeform branding stays on your form until Plus at $56 a month. Clarify with AI, the feature that turns an open text answer into up to two personalized follow-up questions and the main reason people pick Typeform in 2026, needs Talent at $119 a month, a Growth plan, or Enterprise. You can test it on free, you cannot publish a form that uses it.
The free plan is also one seat. The first plan with more than one is Plus at three users, $56 a month.
Free to $28, then eight more rungs
The first paid step is Basic at $28 a month billed annually ($39 monthly), and what it buys is mostly arithmetic: 100 responses a month instead of 10, upgradable to 750, plus Stripe payments, file uploads and partial responses. Ten times the volume for the price of one dinner is a fair trade. Note what it does not include, though. Branding removal waits for Plus at $56, and drop-off analysis and multi-language forms wait for Business at $91.
The ladder is nine tiers deep, not the four most roundups show. Above Basic, Plus and Business sit Talent at $119, Growth Flow at $266, and three sales-led tiers with no public price (Growth Custom, Research Flow, Enterprise). Alongside them are a Contacts and Automations add-on at $25 a month for 2,400 actions or $75 for 12,000, and two separately priced Typeform products, Formless and VideoAsk. Budgeting for Typeform means reading further down the page than you expect to.
Treat every figure here as a starting point rather than a quote. Typeform states that it runs pricing experiments, and its own pricing page currently serves two different price sets in the same page (checked July 2026). That is why we date every number we publish, and why the one in your account may not match the one here.
The single thing most people upgrade for is the response counter itself. The second is Clarify with AI, and that one starts at $119 a month.

Is Typeform really free? No, it is a demo with a counter
The free plan is there to show you the product, not to get your work done.
No. Ten responses a month is a sample of a paid product rather than a free plan you can work on, so our answer here is taster.
Someone can genuinely live on it: a designer checking whether the one-question-at-a-time format lifts completion rates before paying, or a person running a single internal form where ten answers is the whole job. Nobody else can. Collecting leads, running a survey with a real sample size, taking a payment (not available free), adding a second person to the account: all of those need a paid plan on day one.
If the conversational format is what you want rather than the Typeform name, free Typeform alternatives covers the tools that copy it without the counter, and Tally's free plan is the closest like-for-like swap. To see the whole category ranked, start at best free form builders.
Frequently asked questions about Typeform
How many responses does Typeform's free plan include?
10 responses per month, counted across every form on your account rather than per form (as of July 2026). Unused responses do not carry into the next month. Once you hit the cap, every form goes into private mode until the month resets or you upgrade.
Does deleting responses free up space on the free plan?
No. The counter records how many responses arrived during the billing month, not how many you have stored, so deleting them does not reopen your forms. The only ways past it are waiting for the next month or moving to Basic at $28 a month billed annually (as of July 2026).
Can I remove Typeform branding for free?
No. Branding removal starts on the Plus plan at $56 a month billed annually, which also adds a custom subdomain and a third seat (as of July 2026). Basic at $28 keeps the branding. Prices should be treated as a starting point, because Typeform runs pricing experiments and its pricing page currently shows two different price sets.
